VLC is one of the most popular media players in the world. Because it supports nearly every file format ever made, it has become a standard download for users of Mac and Windows and comes pre-installed on most Linux distributions. You will no doubt find it worthy of replacing QuickTime as your media player of choice on your own Mac. But VLC is more than just a media player. It can also rip from DVD video folders and convert the result to MPEG-4 (MP4) format, or nearly any other format you want. Because it is useful as far more than a DVD ripper, this free download makes an excellent choice when you need a DVD-to-MP4 converter for free on Mac. Here's how to convert DVD to MP4 on Mac with VLC:

I have the Ipad3. I needed to download a file I uploaded to YouTube. I download the file to my computer. It is in Mp4 format. I then used FileBrowser to upload the file to my ipad to see if the file would still play even with the mp4 file extension. Works great. Next is to see if the camera connection kit will see the file. I have tried copying a MOV file created by Pinnacle Studio from my NAS storage to a SD memory card to import back into my ipad. The camera connection kit does not see the file. I still can upload the file by using FileBrowser or FileExplorer and then the same MOV video file plays on my ipad3 just fine. I don't understand why the camera connection kit will not read the file when the ipad will play the file. I also have problems uploading my final projects to YouTube through Pinnacle Studio. So I go directly to YouTube and upload my final projects from there.

See Codecs used by WebRTC for information about codecs commonly used for making WebRTC calls, as well as browser compatibility information around codec support in WebRTC.

I use yt-dlp to download videos off YouTube quite frequently. I'll use the videos as reference, and I often use it to grab the VOD for one of my livestreams, since there's no simpler way (I'm not going to dig through the bowel's of YouTube's UI to try to download one of my own videos...).
But I also can't handle the default .webm videos in all my video editing tools natively, and transcoding is annoying. So I've settled on the following yt-dlp command to first try to pull a native MP4 version off YouTube, and failing that, transcode to MP4 immediately after downloading:
I recently shot some footage with a GoPro, and realized after the fact the GoPro 'chapters' the footage around 4 GB, so I ended up with a number of 4 GB files, instead of one larger file. There are various reasons for this, but in the end, I really wanted one long file, so it would be easier to synchronize with footage from another camera and my audio recorder. 041b061a72
